# KlassApp for class teachers

## KlassApp for class teachers

You are the homeroom teacher for a stream. You see the teacher menu, plus exams and report cards for that stream.

The school sets this on the class, not as a separate account type. If you also teach a subject, you still have this same login.

### Menu

In order:

* **Dashboard**
* **Classes**
* **Timetable**
* **Attendance**
* **Exams**
* **Homework**
* **Marks**
* **Report Cards**
* **Class Streams** — when you are the teacher for that stream
* **Notices**
* **Events**

**Exams** and **Report Cards** show because you are the class teacher. A subject teacher without a stream does not see them.

If you are the class teacher of a stream but not the homeroom on the class link, you see **Class Streams** and you do not see **Report Cards**.

### Common tasks

* Who is in the stream: **Classes**.
* Your week: **Timetable**.
* Today's register: **Attendance**. The attendance how-to is not written yet.
* An exam for your stream: **Exams**.
* Work for the class: **Homework**.
* Marks for an exam you own, or for your stream: **Marks**. The step-by-step marks guide is still a [placeholder](https://github.com/KlassApp-Foundation/KlassApp/tree/main/help/marks/README.md).
* Report cards for your homeroom class: **Report Cards**. That guide is also a [placeholder](https://github.com/KlassApp-Foundation/KlassApp/tree/main/help/generate-report-cards/README.md).
* Stream exams and marks: **Class Streams**.
* Messages and dates: **Notices** and **Events**.

A teacher whose profile includes the principal designation can approve lesson plans and assignments. A teacher with the leave-checker designation can approve leave. Those duties sit on this same teacher login. They are not the [head teacher](https://github.com/KlassApp-Foundation/KlassApp/tree/main/help/head-teachers/README.md) account.

### Get help

Ask your school admin to assign the stream if **Exams** or **Report Cards** are missing. Product questions: <community@klassapp.xyz>

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://klassdocs.gitbook.io/klassapp-documentation/docs-site/help/teachers/class.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
